History and Innovation:

FitFlops were created in the UK through a collaborative effort spanning two years. The project involved former Bliss spa-entrepreneur Marcia Kilgore, biomechanist Dr. David Cook, and a dedicated team of footwear engineers. The initial inspiration behind FitFlops stemmed from Kilgore's desire to help modern women incorporate more exercise into their busy lifestyles.

Kilgore explains, "I thought, how amazing if I could invent something that would help fight the onset of cellulite while I'm walking to the office. I work. I have kids. I have a husband. And the likelihood of me seeing the inside of a gym in the next ten years is slim to none. That said, I'd obviously prefer to go with slim."

To realize this vision, Kilgore approached Dr. Cook at The Centre for Human Performance at London's LSBU. Together, they developed the patent-pending Microwobbleboard technology, which was integrated into FitFlop's midsoles. The Microwobbleboard features three densities of EVA foam fused into a single underfoot piece. This design slightly destabilizes the wearer's stance, effectively challenging muscles with each step to provide a workout while walking.
